This data set describes natural history data for the late summer ecology of Arctic fox (Alopex lagopus; TSN 622025) and Red fox (Vulpes vulpes, TSN 180604) in the oil field region of Deadhorse (near Prudhoe Bay; latitude north 70.189999 and longitude west 148.459167), Arctic Alaska, USA. The surrounding habitat of this industrial oil production site is Arctic tundra of the 'North Slope' and located at the Arctic Ocean shore above the Arctic circle. This data set includes some associated photos. The Excel sheet includes data with the following worksheets: opportunistic food items, timetable, opportunistic sightings, opportunistic speces list, predators, transects, disturbance narrative, explanation. We used GPS (decimal degrees, geographic datum WGS84) to collect all data and effort. The biggest work sheet consist of 20 rows. The Excel sheet has an overall size of 100 KB and relates to ongoing work circumpolar in Russia and elsewhere. No Arctic fox are found for Deadhorse, but 6 sightings of Red foxes and a goose kill site are reported. No Red fox and Arctic fox dens or pups were found. Arctic fox were detected c. 67miles south of Deadhorse. Other species covered in this data set (and as food items for foxes) are for instance: Passerines, Gulls, White-fronted Goose ( Anser albifrons 175020; TSN), Canada Goose (Branta canadensis; TSN 174999 ), Brent Goose (Branta bernicla; TSN 175011).
To describe the natural history of Arctic fox and Red fox in Arctic oil field region of Deadhorse, and for circumpolar comparisons, e.g. Habitat and Climate Change questions.
