We used solar-powered time-lapse video photography to document nesting Gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus)
food habits in central West Greenland from May to July in 2000 and 2001. We collected 2677.25 h of
videotape from three nests, representing 94, 87, and 49% of the nestling period at each nest. The video recorded 921 deliveries of 832 prey items. Data was analyzed for diet and nesting behavior. Results were reported in three published papers (see above) but many aspects of the video not yet analyzed such as nestling time budgets, bird vocalizations, adult molting sequences, and more.
Video is available for collaborative work with persons interested in investigating these topics. Video is VHF format, currently stored at Boise State University, and further research would require viewing some or all of the video to extract pertinent data. Each tape contains 24 hrs. of video and is labeled by location, date, and time.
Purpose of the video was to document Gyrfalcon diet; many additional aspects of the species biology also documented and not yet studied.
Video is recorded on VHS cassettes

Survey Protocols
Remote video cameras installed at four Gyrfalcon nests during mid-incubation or early nestling periods. Video recorded almost continuously thereafter except for one nest that failed shortly after young hatched. Video is time-lapse, but near real time and very good quality. 2,677 hrs. of raw footage archived and available for futher study.
