Description:
Abstract:
This data set describes distriution data of 30 bird species for Ontario, Canada and it was used for the NCEAS working group, for instance in the model publication Elith et al. (2006). This project was based on 6 international data sets which are described elsewhere.
Here the data are described in generic terms so that transparent and repeatable research can be carried out and for benchmark assessments of model applications and creative use of data for conservation purposes.
For modeling purposes, this bird data set was extended with 11 predictors and it carries a cell size of 1000m.
The mean number of records per species is 253, for presence absence it is 1282. Overall, the dataset consists of 14,571 sites.
Purpose:
This dataset about birds of Ontario, Canada is provided as a proper description of ISO-compliant FGDC open access data for research purposes. This metadata set complements several research publications in the NCEAS working group, namly Elith et al. (2006).
