This data set describes distriution data of 7 bat species, 8 diurnal birds, 2 nocturnal birds, 8 open-forest tree species, 8 understorey plants, 7 rainforest trees, 6 rainforest understorey plants and 8 smaller reptiles for North-east New South Wales, Australia and it was used for the NCEAS working group, for instance in the model publication Elith et al. (2006). This project was based on overall 6 international data sets which are described elsewhere.
Here the data are described in generic terms so that transparent and repeatable research can be carried out and for benchmark assessments of model applications and creative use of data for conservation purposes.
For modeling purposes, this multi species data set was extended with 13 predictors and it carries a cell size of 100m.
The mean number of records per species is from 9-189 for presence only,, and 63 to 358 for presence/absence. It consists of 570 to 2075 unique sites.
This dataset about multispecies in NENS Wales in Australia is provided as a proper description of ISO-compliant FGDC open access data for modeling research purposes. This metadata set complements several research publications in the NCEAS working group, namly Elith et al. (2006).
