Description:
Abstract:
This data set describes distriution data of plants (Bignoniaceae) in South America (Brazil, Equador, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru) and it was used for the NCEAS working group, for instance in the model publication Elith et al. (2006). This project was based on overall 6 international data sets which are described elsewhere.
Here the data are described in generic terms so that transparent and repeatable research can be carried out and for benchmark assessments of model applications and creative use of data for conservation purposes.
For modeling purposes, this multi species data set was extended with 13 predictors and it carries a cell size of 100m.
The mean number of records per species is 74 for presence only,, and 12 for presence/absence. It consists of 152 unique sites.
Purpose:
This dataset about plants of South America is provided as a proper description of ISO-compliant FGDC open access data for modeling research purposes. This metadata set complements several research publications in the NCEAS working group, namly Elith et al. (2006).
