Forming a therapeutic response to adolescent impulsivityUtilizing a biopsychosocial perspective, this paper addresses the impact, causes, and treatment of adolescent impulsivity. Specifically, the defining features of impulsivity are identified, and the implications that impulsivity has on adolescent criminal behaviors, treatment participation, and quality of life measures are addressed. As a result of this paper's findings, a therapeutic integration of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and working memory training is proposed in order to meet treatment needs that have gone unaddressed, and this integrated model is presented in the form of a group treatment manual.
