Geomagnetic storms which occurred between 1956 and 1963 are classified in terms of different combinations of the three basic storm fields, the DCF, DR and DP fields. For each storm, a new attempt is made to identify the source solar flare, based on several new important findings on characteristics of geomagnetic storms.en_US
