Alaska Corrections Master Plan: A Preliminary Draft SummaryIn 1978, the State of Alaska committed itself to the development of a comprehensive master plan for its correctional system based on a philosophy consistent with the mandate of the Alaska Constitution (Article 1, Section 12): "Penal administration shall be based unon the principle of reformation and upon the need for protecting the public." This summary of the Alaska Corrections Master Plan was prepared to facilitate an overview of the various sections of the plan prior to the final meeting of the joint Master Plan Advisory Committee. As the plan itself was not yet in final approved form, this summary reflects the plan as it existed prior to finalization.

Alaska Department of Corrections: Admissions and Population, 2004–2013This fact sheet presents data on admissions to, and confined populations in, the Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC) from 2004 to 2013, focusing on incarcerated populations and rates, in both in-state and out-of-state facilities, as well as populations and rates in special supervision programs such as Community Residential Centers (CRCs) and electronic monitoring (EM). Data was compiled using the annual DOC Offender Profile publications for 2004 to 2013.

Alaska Justice Forum ; Vol. 26, No. 4 (Winter 2010)The Winter 2010 issue of the Alaska Justice Forum leads off with an article on a recent Ninth Circuit decision holding that a Washington state law denying felons the right to vote is a violation of the Voting Rights Act. Other articles include profiles of correctional populations in Alaska and the U.S., an update on the work of the Criminal Justice Working Group, a pilot program aimed at reducing probation revocations rates, a study of juvenile probation officer workloads, and a discussion of the Language Interpreter Center, which works to provide qualified interpreters in legal, medical, social services, and educational settings statewide.
